LIM College is a small fashion school in New York City, with classroom buildings in Midtown Manhattan and a residence hall in the Upper East Side. The institution was originally named the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising when it was founded in 1939, but it now goes simply by LIM College. Undergraduates at LIM College can major in fashion merchandising, management, marketing, and visual merchandising. At LIM College, students explore hands-on learning opportunities outside the classroom. Many students volunteer at events such as New York Fashion Week and go on field trips to companies such as Tommy Hilfiger and Lucky magazine. All LIM College students are required to complete a Senior Co-op during the last semester, when they spend at least 28 hours a week at their internship site. Past LIM College students have completed co-ops in companies such as Oscar de la Renta, Versace, and Louis Vuitton. Students at LIM College can also join about 10 campus clubs, run for student government, and study abroad.

Situated in Manhattan, the center of the fashion capital of the world, LIM College - Where Business Meets Fashion - has been a major force in fashion and business education since 1939. Graduates can be found throughout all areas of the fashion industry, and its high quality of education has earned LIM accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The Colleges BBA, BPS, and associate degrees are also accredited by the Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs. Devoted exclusively to the business of fashion, the unique nature of LIMs curriculum provides students with a foundation of core courses in the liberal arts and business while offering diverse and intensive hands-on preparation in the fashion industry. This affords graduates the opportunity to accept executive training, merchandising, management, marketing, visual, and communications positions in a wide variety of areas within the fashion and business worlds. All students are required to take three internships in order to earn their bachelors degree; the internship program helps students become truly prepared for successful careers within fashion and fashion-related industries. In fact, 91.5 percent of the class of 2016 were working six months post-graduation. LIM is situated in three academic buildings in midtown Manhattan, with a residence hall on the Upper East Side. A whole world of fashion is at the Colleges doorstep and includes Bergdorf Goodman, MTV Networks, Hearst Publications, and Christian Louboutin. New York City is the headquarters for the garment, cosmetics, publishing, and textile industries, all of which are essential to the fashion industry and are visited regularly by students. Approximately 1,515 undergraduates and 185 graduate students attend LIM. LIM College offers four-year programs in Fashion Merchandising, Management, Marketing, and Visual Merchandising, leading to the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree and International Business and Fashion Media leading to the Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees. Also offered is a four-year Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) program in Fashion Merchandising, as well as associate degrees. LIM also offers four graduate programs: the Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Management; Fashion Marketing Global Fashion Supply Chain Management and the Business of Fashion. Potential students who want to try out college-level classes can attend summer or Saturday classes for high school students or visiting college students on such topics as buying, styling and fashion show production to get a feel for what the business of fashion is all about.
