NAN reports that the acting president and the sports minister went in for the meeting shortly after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday. The reason for the meeting was not yet known at press time but it might not be unconnected with the threat by world football ruling body to sanction Nigeria over government interference. The Federation of International Football Association (FiFA) on Tuesday threatened to suspend the Nigeria and Ghana football federations over government interference. Yvonne Jegede Fawole slams filmmaker Paschal Atuma for saying you can only make it in Nollywood as a prostitute or a homosexual

Image
Actress Yvonne Jegede Fawole has joined other actors to slam Nollywood filmmaker Francis Paschal Atuma for implying that successful Nollywood actors are either prostitutes or homosexuals (read  here ). Yvonne wrote:  I have a degree in minding my business online but this one I have to address.  Mr  @pascalatuma  I believe personally you owe Nollywood producers, actresses and actors an apology for this statement for so many reasons because you don’t know all of them in the industry personally to know how they survive. You are my FRIEND and that makes me even more offended by this statement. If there are producers, actresses or “actors” you are referring to I will appreciate you MAN UP and mention their names in your interviews rather than generalizing everyone of us. This is an insult to everyone who has and is still working hard to make the industry better.  If you are ready for a debate, I will personally pay you to pay for the interview on national t...

California is requiring solar panels on all new houses: here’s whatthat means

Image
California has become the first state to require that new homes be built with solar panels. The rules go into place in 2020 and are part of the state’s ambitious efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions. But these requirements also make it more expensive to build in a state where housing is already extremely expensive. The new building rules approved by the California Energy Commission apply to all residential buildings up to three stories high (including both single-family buildings and condos). They’ll no doubt help California reach its goal of having at least half of electricity come from renewable energy by 2030. Solar is already responsible for about 16 percent of California electricity. But the new regulations mean that houses will be $8,000 to $12,000 more expensive, according to  The   New York Times . That’s especially fraught in a state where the median price of a single-family home is nearly $565,000, according the California Association of Realtors. H...

Apple, Please Fix the Worst Thing About the iPhone X

Image
The iPhone X is easily the best phone I’ve ever owned. And in almost every way, it performs exactly as I would like it to. There is just one problem, a thing that might seem so minor as to not be an issue at all but is the one thing that regularly makes me contemplate chucking my $1,000 gadget against a brick wall. Screenshots. To take a screenshot on the iPhone X, you simply press the side button on the right and one of the volume buttons on the left. The side button also powers the phone on and off, activates Siri, and locks the phone, so you’re hitting it all the time. All of the buttons positioned conveniently in the exact spot where I naturally hold my phone. The result is that it’s easy to take a screenshot—but I would argue that it’s simply  too  easy, to the point where I’m accidentally taking screenshots all the time. Pick up my phone to turn off the alarm in the morning—screenshot. Go to lock the phone—another screenshot. Just scrolling through Twitter—another goddam...

windows 10 'S Mode' Coming Soon — For Security and Performance

Image
Microsoft has confirmed that the company is planning to convert Windows 10 S from a dedicated operating system to a special " S Mode " that will be available in all versions of Windows. Windows 10 S, a new operating system designed for simplicity, security, and speed, was released by Microsoft last year. It locks a computer down to run applications only downloaded from official Windows Store, but the slimmed-down and restricted flavor of Windows did not exactly turn out to be a success. Therefore, the company has now decided Windows 10 S be offered as an optional mode rather than a dedicated operating system. Windows 10 S was developed to simplify administration for school or business sysadmins that want the 'low-hassle' guaranteed performance version. It has been designed to deliver predictable performance and quality through Microsoft-verified apps via the Microsoft Store. However, in a blog post published Wednesday, the corporate VP of Microsoft's operating sys...
